Keyboard Control

Important: These steps refer to Teleprompter Premium version 3.0. If you have an older version, see the instructions below

You can use any connected keyboard to control Teleprompter Premium.

Firstly, you’ll need to have your keyboard paired with your iPad or iPhone. You can find out more information about how to pair your keyboard on the Apple Support website: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204091.

Once you have your keyboard working, you can use it in Teleprompter as both a regular keyboard input for making script edits, and as a controller for scrolling.

To use your keyboard as a controller, there are no extra steps to take. Simply use the shortcuts below:

  • Space Bar: Start / Stop Scrolling
  • r: Start / Stop Recording
  • : Decrease Scroll Speed -1
  • : Increase Scroll Speed +1
  • Shift + : Decrease Scroll Speed -10
  • Shift + : Increase Scroll Speed +10
  • ( or ⊞ Win) + : Previous Cue point
  • ( or ⊞ Win) + : Next Cue point
  • ( or ⊞ Win) + e: Edit Script
  • ( or ⊞ Win) + s: Finish Editing Script

If you’re using an iPad, you can hold the or ⊞ Win key to display a list of the keyboard shortcuts.

If you are using Teleprompter premium version 2.1.5 or older:

You can use any connected keyboard to control Teleprompter Premium.

Firstly, you’ll need to have your keyboard paired with your iPad or iPhone. You can find out more information about how to pair your keyboard on the Apple Support website: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204091.

Once you have your keyboard working, you can use it in Teleprompter as both a regular keyboard input for making script edits, and as a wireless controller.

To use your keyboard to control Teleprompter Premium or Video Teleprompter, simply follow these steps:

  1. Open a script in the app to start prompting.
  2. Tap the icon in the control bar at the bottom.
  3. Select Connect to keyboard.

Important: You must dismiss the on-screen keyboard before you can use it as a controller. To do this, begin editing your script by tapping Edit Script. If the on-screen keyboard appears, dismiss it using the ‘Eject’ key on your keyboard or the on-screen button (bottom-rigt on iPad). You should still be able to type and make edits using your connected keyboard.

You can now use your keyboard to control Teleprompter, here are the keyboard controls:

  • Use the Space Bar to start and stop scrolling
  • Use the number keys (1, 2, 3, 4 etc.) to set your speed value to 10, 20, 30, 40 etc.
  • Use the + and - keys to step up, or step down the speed value
  • Use the W and S keys to change scroll direction: W = Up S = Down
  • Use the Q key to toggle ‘quick scroll’, this will increase your speed value by 4x
